Qatar Airways (QR) has announced they will paint a Boeing 777-300/ER in a special livery to commemorate their partnership with F1 racing. The concepts of this look fantastic, and I hope our rendering does it justice.

New and Proposed Routes 🆕

Delta Air Lines (DL) will open a new route from Atlanta (ATL) to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (RUH) in 2026. This route will be flown by an Airbus A350-900, but further details such as frequency and start date are not known yet.

LOT Polish Airlines (LO) is adding a trio of new European routes from Krakow, Poland (KRK) on March 30: 4x weekly to Barcelona (BCN), 6x weekly to Madrid (MAD), and 5x weekly to Rome (FCO). All three will be flown by Boeing 737 MAX 8 equipment. Note that Ryanair (FR) and Wizz Air (W6) already fly these routes.

United Airlines (UA) is set to add seven more daily routes from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) this spring, likely with a mix of mainline and regional jets:

  • Eugene, Ore. (EUG), Boeing 737 MAX 8 from April 30

  • Lynchburg, Va. (LYH), SkyWest (OO) CRJ-200 from March 24

  • Marquette, Mich. (MQT), SkyWest CRJ-550 from May 21

  • Rochester, Minn. (RST), SkyWest CRJ-550 from April 26

  • Santa Barbara, Calif. (SBA), Boeing 737 MAX 8 from April 6

  • Paducah, Ky. (PAH), SkyWest CRJ-500 from February 24

  • Wausau, Wisc. (CWA), SkyWest CRJ-550 from May 21

Separately, SkyWest will add a daily CRJ-200 flight, on behalf of United Express, from Lynchburg, Va. to Washington Dulles (IAD) on March 24. These two new routes — and the additional airline — are the biggest news in Lynchburg since a waterspout was placed in the middle of the James River.

South Korea’s Parata Air (WE), a low-cost carrier, has applied with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to begin U.S. service. The airline hopes to begin Airbus A330-200 service from Seoul Incheon (ICN) to Las Vegas (LAS) and Los Angeles (LAX) on March 29.

Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ) will add another new route, with 2x weekly service from Amman (AMM) to Belgrade, Serbia (BEG). This route will see an Embraer E195/E2 in service.

Ishrion Aviation, who has an uncanny ability to scoop new routes, posts that Alaska Airlines (AS) will add 13 new routes this spring:

  • Honolulu (HNL) to Burbank, Calif. (BUR) - daily Boeing 737 from May 12

  • Ontario, Calif. (ONT) to Santa Rosa, Calif. (STS) - daily Embraer E175 from March 18

  • Portland, Ore. (PDX) to Baltimore (BWI), Philadelphia (PHL) and St. Louis (STL) - daily Boeing 737 from May 19

  • Portland, Ore. to Idaho Falls (IDA) - daily Embraer E175 from May 19

  • San Diego (SAN) to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) - 2x daily Boeing 737s from April 22

  • San Diego to Oakland, Calif. (OAK) - 4x daily Boeing 737s from April 22

  • San Diego to Raleigh, N.C. (RDU) - daily Boeing 737 from April 22

  • San Diego to Santa Barbara, Calif. (SBA) - 2x daily Embraer E175s from April 22

  • San Diego to Tulsa, Okla. (TUL) - daily Embraer E175 from March 18

  • Seattle (SEA) to Tulsa - daily Embraer E175 from March 18

  • Seattle to Arcata, Calif. (ACG) - daily Embraer E175 from April 8

Air Canada (AC) is adding four new trans-border routes from Toronto Island (YTZ) next year as the airport opens a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance station. These routes will all be flown by Jazz Aviation (QK) Dash 8 equipment under the Air Canada Express banner:

  • 4x daily to New York LaGuardia (LGA) start on March 29

  • 2x daily to Chicago O’Hare and once daily to Washington Dulles start on June 1

  • 3x daily to Boston (BOS) commence on July 1
